Educators who choose to work in a Catholic school are fulfilling an important calling. The availability of scholarships through the Monsignor Michael F. Sexton Continuing Education Endowment promotes the highest degree of excellence and leadership in our schools and provides our faculty with an additional value for accepting the call to work in our schools.
The Monsignor Michael F. Sexton Continuing Education Endowment provides annual scholarships for professional staff in diocesan Catholic schools to continue their education or pursue advanced degrees.
Each spring, professional staff are invited to submit applications for a Monsignor Michael F. Sexton Continuing Education scholarship. The Monsignor Sexton Review Committee makes award decisions based on the applications received. The scholarships provide up to 80% of the recipient's tuition.Mr. Matthew Ogonowski, History Teacher, Holy Spirit Catholic School in Tuscaloosa: Mr. Ogonowski is pursuing a Master's degree in Instructional Leadership at the University of Montevallo.
Mrs. Brittany Saibini, Resource Teacher, Holy Spirit Catholic School in Tuscaloosa: Mrs. Saibini is pursuing a Master of Teaching degree in Special Education at Arkansas State University.
Mrs. Victoria Jordan, Counselor at Prince of Peace Catholic School in Hoover, and Mrs. Courtney Magee, Principal of St. Joseph Catholic School in Florence, received the first scholarship awards from The Monsignor Michael F. Sexton Continuing Education Endowment in September 2023.
